The United States has no federal BIM mandate, but major federal agencies — the General Services Administration (GSA), the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Department of Veterans Affairs — all require BIM on their projects. State-level and private-sector projects increasingly follow. Bim Technologists delivers BIM services to US contractors, developers and government project teams.
LOCAL BIM ENVIRONMENT
GSA has required BIM on major projects since 2007. USACE uses BIM on federal military and civil works. Private-sector adoption is driven by owners like healthcare systems, universities and hyperscale data-centre developers, most of whom now require Revit-native BIM deliverables. LEED remains the dominant sustainability certification for 6D data.
